tii_draft_warningThere have been a few reports of a warning message appearing when attempting to open a student paper from within the Turnitin Assignment Inbox. The message says, “This is a draft submission. Any and all marks will be deleted when or if the paper is resubmitted. Would you like to continue?”.

Check the Due Date and time have passed – if they have, then the message can be ignored for work already in the Assignment Inbox. If the Due Date is still in the future, then the message is genuine and you should take notice of the warning.

If you mark an assignment which is a “Draft submission” as the due date has not been reached, and a student then resubmits, which they are entitled to do until the due date, your grades and feedback will be deleted and you will have to enter both grades and feedback again for their final submission.

If you encounter the “draft submission” message and the Due Date has definitely passed (including the time, as well as date), then you can safely ignore the message and continue to mark work that the student has submitted. A student who has submitted work to Turnitin cannot resubmit after the Due Date has passed.

You can check the Due Date by accessing the relevant Assignment Inbox and clicking either the “Edit assignment” tab or the “Edit assignment settings” link.
